There are no doubts about it: Caregiving is hard work. But hard work can take its toll, and those consequences aren’t always as obvious or even acknowledged. At Lingraphica, we’re fortunate to interact with aphasia caregivers on a daily basis. In 2020, we reached out to hundreds of caregivers to try and learn more about their experiences, and provide a never-before-seen look into caregiving.
The results of the report highlighted the personal impact of their work. Relationships had worsened. Stress levels skyrocketed. Energy levels fell. And the number of challenges piled up.
That initial report — and our 2021 update — made it clear that caregivers need care, too.
Virtual Connections: An Online Meetup Group For Individuals with Aphasia and Caregivers
Virtual Connections has quickly become one of the most popular resources for people with aphasia and for their caregivers. And with the latest findings from our caregiver survey, we’ve added multiple caregiver-specific sessions that address the challenges highlighted in the report.
Upcoming aphasia caregiver session topics include avoiding burnout, coping with grief, improving communication, rebuilding life after aphasia and more.
